On Wednesday, August 29th at 2pm EDT, USDA’s Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships will host the next presentation in its “Together We Can” webinar series to introduce partners to the resources and programs offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Wednesday’s webinar will focus on resources for building local and regional food systems in your community.

Faith-based, community, and other non-profit organizations are strongly encouraged to join this webinar, which will share information about Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass, the People’s Garden Initiative, the National Farmers Market Directory, and other tools to help your community develop its local food system.  With less than two percent of our population living on a farm or ranch, many Americans are interested in learning more about where their food comes from. Developing local food systems can create opportunities for producers and businesses, strengthen communities, and increase access to healthy food.  USDA launched its Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass in February 2012.  It serves as an interactive web-based document and map highlighting USDA resources for local and regional food projects.

Please follow this link to register for the webinar.  You can also join the online presentation at 2pm EDT on Wednesday, August 29th and by calling 1-888-469-1576, passcode 402774#.  Questions?  Please email collaborate@usda.gov.
